It is becoming increasingly apparent that a good portion of the environmentalists want global government especially in a more natural or deindutrialized way for the west. These are also some of the aims of the Copenhagen Summit. Stephen Harper and the Conservatives are also somewhat skeptical of the reduce climate change agenda but are under enormous pressure to concede to the climate change agenda at Copenhagen. There is also increasing dispute of some of the science behind the crowd that backs measures against global warming especially Al Gore. Pray that God would give wisdom to Stephen Harper and the Canadian Environment Minister that they would familiarize themselves with any documents at Copenhagen or afterwards before they commit to them especially that would concede more sovereignty of Canada to the United Nations and global government. Pray that the truth prevail about the real effect of man made carbon dioxide emissions and other factors such as El Nino or Earth's clouds and water vapor or the effects of the sun.
As has become the case for quite a few years now, Christians in Canada are in a battle for the true meaning of Christmas on two fronts. One is by the secularists and commercial interests with the emphasis on toys and Christmas shopping, food and decorations and secular Christmas music. The other is by other religions and multiculturalism and other festivals that occur around this time like Hannukah, the African Kwanza, the Hindu Diwali, the Chinese and Vietnamese and oriental New Year and sometimes the Muslim Ramadan. Although these other ethnic or cultural festivals have some benefit and are important and joyful occasions to people of those groups and their supporters, this shouldn't detract from the uniqueness of the true meaning of Christmas as the time we remember when God came in the form of a man from heaven the Lord Jesus Christ so he could reveal Himself more to us and die for the sins of all the people of the world and rise from the dead to offer everyone eternal life through wholehearted faith in Him according to the Bible. Pray that Christians can use this Christmas season as an opportunity to share the true meaning of Christmas and the whole gospel message of the death for our sins and ressurrection from the dead to give us new life of the Son of God Jesus Christ that started with His virgin birth in Bethlehem. Pray that Christians especially not be sidetracked by the commercialism. Pray that Christians and others not give into any additional temptations to immorality that is sometimes stronger this time of year partly due to people having holidays and being in a festive mood and the greater use of alcohol and perhaps other recreational drugs.
Like Christmas, Hannukah has to some extent been affected by commercial and secular aspects. However the true meaning of Hannukah is to celebrate the time the Jews led by the Macabees stood up to their Greek and Hellenizing oppressors who were trying to snuff out Jewish culture including their worship of the LORD Yahweh the one true God centred on the Temple worship in Jerusalem. The main event remembered is when God made the temple oil for the Menorah which was only a one day's supply last for 8 days until a further supply could be obtained. Pray that this Hannukah would be a time when Jews and Christians could make progress to building the Third Temple in Jerusalem and remained unconstructed articles for it to speed the day of the rapture of the true Christian Church and the Second Coming of Jesus Christ when he will rule the world from the true Messianic Temple in Jerusalem and that Christians warn Jews that the Antichrist will first defile the tribulation temple.
Pierre Trudeau was a man that probably had more effect on current day Canada that any Canadian Prime Minister at least in recent history. Although there might have been some good in his role in starting some disability, or old age pension social security programs he also did much damage to Canada morally and spiritually. There is a new book out by author John English about Pierre Trudeau and his years in power called Just Watch Me that I intend to buy soon. I looked in the index and I will read more when I get the book but it confirmed that Trudeau had a main role in legalizing abortion, decriminalizing homosexuality and I think halting capital punishment in Canada among other things. These things all contribute to the current sexual or violent lawlessness in Canada. Trudeau also later helped develop the Canadian Constitution and Charter of Rights and Freedoms that replaced the Canadian Bill of Rights. Although I am not a legal expert the main affect of this transfer was to base Canadian law more on situation and relative ethics rather than the more absolute values of the Bible given by God. Pray that God by His grace might raise up more conservative judges, federal government leaders and other legal people that would have the heart and ability to undo some of the ungodly laws adopted by Trudeau and his government if the Lord Jesus tarries much longer to come and take His Church to heaven and let the tribulation begin. Pray for more fear or reverence for God by existing MPs and Prime Minister Stephen Harper that they wouldn't just judge by the laws of man or what is considered community standards but to please God according to His law as the Bible says all authorities are ordained of God and are responsible to Him. Pray that more Canadians would trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and be delivered from behavious that would take advantage of some of Trudeau's ungodly law through sex outside of marriage that could lead to abortion, homosexuality or violent or other lawless behaviour especially on a repeat basis because there isn't capital punishment as a serious consequence for such actions.
